It has long been in the pipeline but we are now happy to announce we will be stocking IronMind equipment in our UK Store.
Over the past few years we have received so many questions asking, where can I buy IronMind equipment in the UK? Stock can be rare over this side of the water and hopefully now we can help out. We aim to offer this equipment at the very best prices we can.
Who Are IronMind
IronMind is a company, founded in 1988 by Randall J. Strossen. IronMind is a strength sport company whose slogan speaks for itself, Stronger Minds, Stronger Bodies.
IronMind mainly focuses on Grip Strength which is why we love their products.
As they have been around for a while it's safe to say they know what they're doing, and their products reflect that.
IronMind Rolling Thunder
The Ironmind Rolling Thunder is definitely a team favorite inside the Grip Shed. We are really happy to stock the Rolling Thunder in our UK store and give you all the joy of pain and pleasure!
Being associated with the fabled Crushed To Dust challenge the Rolling Thunder is a well known implement around the world. From the creation of the rolling thunder there have been many more rotating handles released by many different brands, but none have a reputation as big as this. The latest model release seems to be the most challenging yet.
For the Crushed To Dust challenge you are required to lift 90kg with the rolling thunder, 20kg with the hub and close a no2 captains of crush hand gripper within 3 minutes. The most difficult of these without doubt is the rolling thunder, once you have mastered this then you should be good to go!
The dimensions of the rolling thunder are 7-1/2″ in length (rotating portion is 6″ in length); 2-3/8″ in diameter, so it's much thicker than your average deadlift bar, which makes it much more challenging. On top of that it rotates, which makes it even harder!
How do you compare? If you can do:
- 125 lb. - average
- 185 lb. - accomplished
- 250 lb. - world-class
IronMind Hub
The IronMind Hub may look like an innocent little piece of equipment, but don’t be fooled by the nice smooth edges and textured feel. The hub is designed from old school weight plates which used to have a large hub in the middle. Lifting these plates up was seen as a great feat of strength.
There are many different techniques that are used to lift this, but it all depends on hand size and where your strengths are. The World Record was recently increased Feb 2019 up to a mammoth 44.80 kg by Harri Tolonen. It looks like his secret technique is not looking at the weight before the lift… Mind over matter! Hopefully some of you UK gripsters out there can get your hands on a hub and bring the record home!
It's also a very versatile piece of equipment and can be lifted in a variety of different ways. Our good friend @Jokabug held a competition for a 2 Hand Pinch in 2019 with the IronMind hub which ran over a month and was great fun to participate in.
Captains Of Crush Hand Grippers
When it comes to Hand Grippers, you can’t go wrong with a pair of Captains of Crush. Crafted with Aircraft-Grade aluminium they provide a world class appearance and feel. With regards to resistance, the GR8tm springs give a precise and durable result so you know the numbers on the gripper are going to be near enough spot on.
There are 11 different resistances of this hand gripper so there’s a starting point for everyone, and most certainly an end point too. Unless you’re a superhuman like Magnus Samuelsson. He is just one of the few people to ever close a No4 Captains of Crush hand gripper. The captains of crush no 4 has a rating of just over 165 kg which feels like trying to crush a brick!
If you’re passionate about hand grippers and learning some new techniques check out our dedicated Hand Gripper training page.
You can’t go wrong with a pair of Captains of Crush, they are durable, reliable and accurate. Plus if you ever get strong enough to close a No3 gripper then you can get yourself certified!
IronMind Blockbuster Pinch Block
A classic feat of pinch gripping involved seeing if you could haul up a pair of old-style York 45lb plates with the smooth sides facing out. Back in the day almost nobody could do this. Pinching a pair of 35lb plates was seen as a very respectable feat of strength. We have a whole new breed of gripsters these days and there are quite a few people that can successfully complete this feat of strength. Including our very own @thegripfather.
The IronMind blockbuster pinch block is 6 inch x 3 inch x 6 inch so there's plenty of room for even the biggest-handed gents around.
IronMind Little Big Horn
Blacksmiths demonstrated their superior strength by lifting an anvil by the horn. The taper of the horn and the weight of the anvil tested one’s grip to the limit. Now you can train progressively and conveniently and this test of grip strength. An event favourite at grip competitions worldwide, the Little Big Horn current world records are:
- Men: Laine Snook at 107.29 kg/236.53 lb.) on 4 April 2015
- Women: Elizabeth Horne at 61.45 kg/135.47 lb. on 4 April 2015
See how you compare: at the 2012 IronMind Record Breakers, Adam Glass hauled up 100 kg (220.5 lb.). This is now the de facto world record. If you can do:
- 130 lb. – average
- 155 lb. – accomplished
- 175 lb. – world-class
6″ long x 3″ in diameter at one end, tapering to 1-1/2″.
The IronMind little big horn is an excellent training tool and a worthy addition to any gripsters collection.
IronMind Nails
As steel bending is something we're really passionate about, how could we not get a bunch of the IronMind nails? Available in:
- White Nails - Level 1
- Green Nails - Level 2
- Yellow Nails - Level 3
- Blue Nails - Level 4
- Red Nails - Level 5
- Gold Nails - Level 6
A great selection of steal and a super fun challenge bending / snapping them.
That's all the IronMind equipment we have in our UK store so far!
Hopefully in the future we will be able to get some more of their products in stock.
But hopefully that will have helped answer the question where can you get IronMind equipment in the UK!
