Hubs
everything you need to know about
Hubs
Hub lifting puts your thumb and fingertips to work on a small gripping surface. Inspired by lifting weight plates by their central hub, it’s a classic grip challenge where hand placement, pressure and control all matter.
Our collection includes Low, Mid and High hubs, alongside alternative shapes and specialist tools for adding variety to your pinch training.
WHICH HUB SHOULD I CHOOSE?
If you’re buying your first hub, our recommendation is the 25mm Mid Hub. It’s a useful starting point for learning the grip, practising consistent lifts and tracking your progress.
The height refers to the depth of the gripping surface—not the diameter. Changing that depth changes how much contact your thumb and fingertips can make.
- Low Hub — 12mm: A shallow gripping surface that demands precise placement and fingertip control.
- Mid Hub — 25mm: Our all-round starting recommendation for general hub training.
- High Hub — 40mm: A deeper gripping surface, giving your fingers and thumb more room to work with.
Lower hubs generally make the lift more demanding, but technique and hand position also affect the result. If you’re training for an event, match the exact hub and lifting rules used.
OUR TOP PICKS
Gods of Grip Hubs — Low, Mid & High
Our classic round hubs, available in three gripping heights. Made from steel and finished in GripLock™ Texture, they’re suited to controlled repetitions, timed holds and maximum lifts.
Square Hub
A different approach to hub lifting. The flat sides and corners change your contact points, giving you another way to practise finger placement and pinch control.
The Dome
Swap the upright gripping edge for a rounded surface. The Dome offers a different hand position and a challenging addition to your open-hand grip training.
GripTopz Shallow Hub
World of Grip’s shallow hub for orthodox claw-grip lifting. Supplied in bare steel, it uses a different mounting system from our hanging hubs. Pair it with a compatible GripTopz or Universal Loading Pin, and check the lifting rules when preparing for competition.
MADE BY GRIP NERDS
Our Gods of Grip hubs are designed, tested and manufactured by us in the UK. Our classic Low, Mid and High hubs feature our signature GripLock™ textured finish.
Connect our hanging hubs to a loading pin using a suitable carabiner. Start light, find your hand position and build from there. A light dusting of powdered chalk helps keep your grip consistent.
