It's back! Woohoo I hear you say. After the great success of last years Grip Championships 2022, we're really excited to announce this years competition, we've renamed it the 'Games' in line with our Gripmas Games which will arrive later in the year.

Hopefully the weather is as good as last years, but I'm sure we will make an awesome day either way.

We've decided to extend the weight categories as tested during the Gripmas Games.

The Events

The day will consist of 5 Events covering all areas of Grip - Crush, Pinch and Support.

We've thrown a curveball in this year that tests wrist strength, which is crucially important for a strong grip.

Event 1 - Ridge

These rules apply to 6mm, 10mm, 14mm Ridges.

  • The Ridge must be grasped from the top, specifically with the finger(s) and thumb.
  • No part of the edge / underside can be touched during the lift.
  • Any part of the lifting apparatus can not touch the legs or any other body parts during the lift.
  • You can not rest your lifting hand or forearm on your legs during the lift.
  • The lift must be completed to a minimum of 12".
  • There is no referee's down signal. 
  • After the marker touches the 12" height, the weight must be lowered in a controlled manor with the lifting hand in full contact.

Event 2 - Triple Barrell

The below applies to the Triple Barrel Pinch Block.

  • The Pinch Block must be grasped overhand. Fingers front and thumb rear.
  • The thumb can be straight or curved between tubes. Both grips are allowed
  • No part of the underside or inside of the block can be touched during the lift.
  • Any part of the lifting apparatus can not touch the legs or any other body parts during the lift.
  • You must not intentionally try to tilt the block.
  • You can not rest your lifting hand or forearm on your legs during the lift.
  • The lift must be completed to a minimum of 6".
  • There is no referee's down signal. 
  • After the marker touches the 6" height, the weight must be lowered in a controlled manor with the lifting hand in full contact.

Event 3 - Rolling Handle

These rules apply to 50mm(2"), 60mm(2.4") and 76mm(3") Rolling Handles. 

  • Only the rotating bar of the handle can be grasped / touched during the lift.
  • No part of the frame can be touched during the lift.
  • Any part of the lifting apparatus can not touch the legs or any other body parts during the lift.
  • You must not intentionally try to tilt the handle.
  • You can not rest your lifting hand or forearm on your legs during the lift.
  • The lift must be completed to a minimum of 6".
  • There is no referee's down signal. 
  • After the marker touches the 6" height, the weight must be lowered in a controlled manor with the lifting hand in full contact.

Event 4 - The Dome

  • The Dome
  • One handed lift
  • 1 attempt

 These rules apply to The Dome.

  • All fingers must be in contact with the dome when starting the lift. They are not required to be touching the base plate.
  • You cannot touch any part of the underside of the plate with your lifting hand.
  • Any part of the lifting apparatus can not touch the legs or any other body parts during the lift.
  • You must not intentionally try to tilt the the Dome.
  • You can not rest your lifting hand or forearm on your legs during the lift.
  • The lift must be completed to a minimum of 6".
  • There is no referee's down signal. 
  • After the marker touches the 6" height, the weight must be lowered in a controlled manor with the lifting hand in full contact.

Event 5 - The Gripping Medley

We've managed to get our hands on some very challenging items that will test every sinew of your grip strength. 

This includes, inch dumbbells, blobs and some mystery equipment.

  • 60s time limit
  • Most implements loaded / fastest time

Don't Forget

BBQ food will be included for athletes and a small fee is charged to spectators.

The legendary Wini and Kath will be serving hot / cold drinks.

Any money raised will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
