This week we take a look at a grip tool we first made in early 2023.
The now named Tip Blaster was a real hit in the Grip Shed throughout the year and we loved putting it to the test.
Spotlight
If you're new to our Grip Tool Spotlight then let me break it down for you!
- Each week we take a deep dive into a Grip Tool discussing it's design, benefits and practical applications.
- We also share tips and tricks to help you get the most out of each grip tool, ensuring you can enhance your grip strength and overall performance.
- We always start off with a snippet of our favourite review and Tom's thoughts.
Design
The Tip Blaster is designed for both competition and functional training. The upper tube provides a nice smooth gripping area for your palms whilst the flat bar stops your fingers wrapping underneath.
This is perfect for use in competition as it takes away the big hands advantage on lifts such as Axle deadlift.
Custom Colouring - Grab the Tip Blaster in your favourite colour.
Each one of our Grip Tools is made by us in the UK, this goes right down to the design, cutting, fabrication and painting.
We felt that our standard black and yellow just didn't do this awesome Grip Tool justice, so we've given you the option of an awesome selection of colours to choose from.
Benefits
Specifically targetting the fingers, the tip blaster is a deceptivley tough lift.
We find at the lower weights it taxes your thumbs, then once you've worked out your optimal position it really pust pressure on those fingers.
We feel training with the tip blaster is a great way to help develop both crush and pinch grip strength. This is particualry useful for tools such as Rolling Handles and Pinch Blocks.
As you're able to work upto a pretty heavy weight, we would recommend taking small weight jumps and also warming up with extensors or grip rings.
Application
The Tip Blaster is a really versatile training tool that can be used for a vareity of movements.
Mainly we use this on a loading pin for deadlift style lifts but we've seen people hook it up to a cable machine, or even hang it off a pull up bar to do pull-ups!
As this tool is great for building finger strength It's particularly useful for rock climbers, weightlifters, and martial artists who rely heavily on their grip for performance. Additionally, it can be a valuable tool for those recovering from hand or wrist injuries, providing a safe and effective way to regain strength and mobility.
Training Tips
- Warm-Up: Always start with a proper warm-up to prevent injury and maximize performance.
- Gradual Progression: Increase resistance gradually to avoid overexertion. As you can get particulary heavy on this implement it's specifically important.
- Consistency: Incorporate the Tip Blaster into your regular training routine for the best results.
- Variation: Mix up your exercises to target different muscle groups and keep your workouts interesting.
