Pinch Blocks - Pinch blocks are excellent tools for developing pinch grip strength, focusing on the thumb, fingers, and overall hand control. They offer a versatile challenge, helping to improve thumb strength, finger endurance, and overall grip power.

Choosing the right width of pinch block depends on your goals and hand size. Generally, those with larger hands may find narrower blocks more challenging, while wider pinch blocks tend to be more suited for bigger hands.

Key Pinch - Key pinch grip is a vital aspect of grip strength, testing your ability to hold and control objects between your thumb and index finger. Whether you're lifting weights, handling odd objects, or simply aiming to build stronger hands, focusing on key pinch training is essential.

Finger Strength Tools - Finger strength is crucial for grip training, influencing everything from lifting and climbing to everyday tasks. Strong fingers enhance control, endurance, and power, enabling you to maintain a firm grip under heavy loads or difficult conditions.

Training finger strength develops pinch grip, crush grip, and support grip, all important for activities like lifting, arm wrestling, rock climbing, and functional fitness. It also helps reduce hand fatigue and injury risk, making your grip more efficient and durable.

Thumb Strengh Tools - The thumb plays a crucial role in grip strength, acting as the anchor for nearly every type of grip—whether it’s pinch, support, or crush grip. Strong thumbs improve hand stability, control, and endurance, making a significant impact in lifting, climbing, grappling, and everyday tasks.

Targeted thumb training enhances pinch grip strength, allowing you to lift heavier, hold longer, and reduce the risk of hand fatigue or injury. Strengthening the thumb also leads to better dexterity and coordination, which benefits athletes, lifters, and anyone who relies on hand strength.

Saxon Bars - Saxon bars are the ultimate challenge for pinch grip strength and wrist stability. The Saxon Bar requires a two-handed pinch lift, which significantly challenges your thumb and finger strength as you work to lift the bar with precision and control. This bar is perfect for building both pinch grip endurance and overall hand strength.

PINCH FAQ

The most widely used competition width is 60mm; it’s the most hand friendly and the best all-rounder for general training. For wide pinch work, 80mm is a strong choice, especially if you have larger hands or you’re targeting blob lifts or thumb overload. Anything wider than this moves into true wide pinch territory, placing greater demand on the wrist and thumbs, which suits advanced lifters building specific strength.

Size at a glance

60mm — Most popular, versatile, great for PR singles, holds, and volume.

80mm — Wide pinch focus, ideal for blobs and thumb overload, suits larger hands.

Wider — Specialised wide pinch, heavier wrist/thumb strain, advanced progression.

GripLock™ Texture is a custom, ultra-grippy paint system designed for feel and durability. It holds chalk well and seasons over time to that perfect crust, helping to maximise performance.

We recommend using a light dusting of chalk on both your hands and grip tool, when used over time this will eventually develop the perfect seasoned feel and texture.

All equipment manufactured by Gods Of Grip is cleared for competition. You can view the complete list of competition lifts & rules here.

'Essential' equipment is not cleared for competition use.

We would usually recommend training pinch 1-2 times per week making sure to rotate between low / high rep sets and holds for time.

For more specific training tips & advice check out our Grip Academy.

Chalk - We strongly recommend not using liquid chalk with any of our grip tools, they are specifically desinged to be used with powdered chalk, liquid chalk will sit in GripLock™ texture and make the blocks feel worse.

Towelling - We do recommend brushing any excess chalk off with a towel frequently, this will allow for a consistent build up over time.

Brushing - You can brush the block to remove any excess or build up, this is not allowed mid competition (before or after is fine).

GripLock™ Texture - Our speciality paint is designed to season gradually over time through use, any paint chips are fine, these will just get filled with chalk / rust over time and provide you with an excellent textured feel.
